ACA Breeder of the Year
The ACA promotes cichlid keeping by encouraging captive breeding, which increases access to rare species, produces healthier fish, reduces hybridization, and helps conserve wild populations.
To support this goal, the ACA sponsors the Breeder of the Year Program, recognizing individual breeders and clubs with strong breeding participation.
In partnership with local and regional aquarium societies, the ACA awards individual achievements, names an overall ACA Cichlid Breeder of the Year, and outlines program rules and submission guidelines in this document.
Rules
To be eligible for an ACA Club Breeder Award, a hobbyist must,
in last calendar year:

Be a member of a participating aquarium club, association, or society

Be participating in that organization’s Breeder Awards Program or equivalent
-
Have turned in at least one cichlid species.
How to Submit Entries

Local and regional aquarium societies wishing to participate should submit the required information using the Excel (.xlsx) spreadsheet available at the following link: Breeder of the Year Club Template.

Clubs should use this form to submit their Breeder of the Year Program data.

Once the form is filled out, send it to the Breeder of the Year Program representative using the following contact form.
To complete the spreadsheet:

Open the spreadsheet in Microsoft Excel.

Type the breeder’s name in column A, last name first, followed by first name.

Type the genus of the fish spawned in column B.

Type the species name in column C. Use “sp.” if the fish is an undescribed species.

Type the morph, color form, subspecies, or locality in column D.

Type the full name of the club in column E (not initials, since different clubs may share the same initials; e.g., “MAS” could mean Minnesota A.S. or Milwaukee A.S.).

Save the spreadsheet using this filename format:
ACA_breeder_entry_name_of_your_club
For example: ACA_breeder_entry_Milwaukee_AS. -
Email the completed spreadsheet to the program representative.
