The American Cichlid Association is governed by a Board of Trustees (BOT), consisting of nine members presided over by a Chair. Four new members are elected from the membership each year and serve a two-year term. Elections are held in the fall. Any ACA member in good standing for one year or longer can nominate him/herself by simply submitting a resume to the Nominating Committee by July 31 of any given year. See the Bylaws for the specific duties of these positions. Many functions of the Association are carried out by Committees and individual members assigned to the task, e.g. ACA Convention Liaison. Society business is conducted electronically and at a meeting held during the annual ACA Convention through a series of propositions that are voted on by BOT members. Here is a list of recent BOT propositions and whether they were passed or not.
