Mission Statement of the ACA Conservation Committee

The mission of the ACA Conservation Committee is to:

  • stop the loss of cichlid diversity by alerting the membership to the scope and nature of threats to the survival of cichlids in nature;
  • educate members to the importance of maintaining sustainable numbers of captive populations of cichlid species at risk in nature;
  • assist in the design and implementation of long-term management programs, both within the country of origin, and outside the country of origin, for cichlid species at risk; and
  • provide financial support for cichlid conservation efforts.
