The Vieja maculicauda of mine....it's male or female??

Please help me for how to to differentiate the male and female of Vieja maculicauda!!

With many of the Vieja/Paraneetroplus types, the profile is one way to determine.

I believe that your 'maculicauda' is a female. She has smaller and less pointed fins. Also she is smaller than a male her age. As well, males have a steeper forhead as they get older. Here's a young pair of mine, male to the right.

fins can be a good indication but I have seen dominate females appear like males in their finnage when alone in a tank.
