WTB Pimelodus maculatus Lacépède

Hi Friends,

I want to buy several of these Catfish. I need females and males. I have a catfish tank and will soon be getting a bigger tank for them. I have a 43 gallon tank, at this time for them. I am not concerned at what size that they are, any size if fine. I have many tanks.

I just got a Pimeldus ornatus from the Wet Spot, I will see if I can find any and let you know about the maculatus. I wouldn't mind getting some too!

Hi Decker,

I have been thinking of a themed fish room. All Spotted FISH. Spotted Cichlids, Spotted Cory Cats, and Spotted Maculatus (beware on these - they are not all the same design).

I also hope to have a few other cichlids, kribs, tropheus, and maybe killifish. I found a few interesting fish that I like. Here is the list of fish I have or fish I want:

Pimelodus maculatus Lacépède 1803 South America: Paraná and São Francisco River basins.

Rubber lip Plecos

Clown Plecos

Neolamprologus tretocephalus - Wild

Protomelas "Ndiwe" Fire Hap - Wild

Pelvichachromis taeniatus Moliwe
Own 2 pairs (in the mail to me).

Assassin Snails
Neolamprologus Tetracanthus "Magara" - can have 2,000 fry from 1 pair

I just got 2 rubberlips for $6 a pice loving those little guys. I also picked up a rare Chaetesoma sp "pisqui river" which has a cool pattern. I love my Pimelodus ornatus; he's really coming into his own and seems to have a TURBO switch when i feed his tank, lol.

I just got this spotted little guy

Planet Catfish said they maxed out at 22", but after I ordered him I realized he's going to get really big.

You really have me interested in the maculatus now, I will be on the prowl until I find one. My LFS just ordered my some rare fish. I will ask the manager when I pick my fish up if he knows where to find any.

My boyfriend lovess catfish with long whiskers and spots. That fish looks very cute.

Kitty you would like Pimelodus ornatus, they are my favorite of the Pims.

Kitty, I just talkedd to the Manager of 50 Fathoms my main LFS and he said thaat he has seen the macultus on his lists. He had 3 new shipments today and shop was relly busy so he said he would reseqrch it further and get back to me. My girlfried and I scored some relly nice plecos today and Mikey the manager and I are pretty tight and he's gotten me plenty of rare catfish in the past. I will keep you posted on maculatus.

That catfish is Brachyplatystoma capapretum, a new member of the tigrinus family discovered in 2005!!
