The American Cichlid
Association believes the greatest asset to an aquarium society is the benefit received by the
membership when a speaker gives a lecture at the monthly meeting. A live presentation by a speaker
at a local meeting adds immensely to the enjoyment of the hobby and to further the knowledge of the
attendees. The ACA, realizing the financial cost of bringing in an outside speaker, is proud to
offer to our members the ACA Cichlid Speaker Program, now sponsored by Marineland Aquarium Products
and AquaScience Research Group, Inc..
Basically, here's how the program works.
Choose your speaker from the list of ACA sponsored speakers. There will be no cost for the club for
honorariums and the ACA will pay half of the round trip transportation for any of these speakers to
attend your meeting with a maximum dollar amount of $100.00. You will be responsible for all
additional expenses including lodging and meals.
After selecting your speaker you will
need to contact them directly to arrange a convenient schedule. Once the date has been finalized,
please contact Chuck Rambo, 6474 Baguio Court, San Jose, CA 95119, 408-225-9175. It is imperative
to get in touch with Chuck because the ACA has set a limit of 10 total speaking engagements per
year for the ACA Cichlid Speaker Program. Availability is based on a first come-first serve basis
and a 90 day notice is required.
Transportation for the speaker should be arranged by
you. After receiving permission to proceed from Chuck, you should submit a copy of your invoice for
the reimbursement of travel expenses. Chuck must also be notified of a mailing address for the
shipment of ACA material. ACA material includes brochures, membership applications and copies of
Buntbarsche Bulletin, the official publication of the ACA. All societies are limited to one annual
participation.
