Pacific Coast Cichlid
Association is proud to announce Dr. Ron Coleman as our speaker on March 10,
2007.
He is a biologist by profession, an Assistant Professor of Biology, to be
exact. He teaches courses on Ichthyology (the study of fishes), Fisheries Biology, Animal Behavior,
Vertebrate Natural History and other related topics. In his research, he is particularly interested
in the behavior and ecology of fishes. Specifically, he is what is called an evolutionary
ecologist, which means that he tries to understand behavior in the context of the organism's
whole life and in terms of how the behavior evolved by natural selection.
Dr. Ron
Coleman interested in cichlids from two angles, both as a scientist and a hobbyist. On the
hobbyist side, it is hard to beat cichlids as entertaining and just plain interesting animals to
have around. They are intelligent and curious creatures that come in so many shapes, sizes and
colours that he finds it hard to believe that anyone could not be fascinated by them.
Please join us on Saturday, March 10, 2007, located in San Jose, California. For more
information about the speaker and a meeting location, check out the PCCA web site at
