I recently introduced a trio of spotted cory cats into a tank with my gymnogeophagus labiatus group..i was wondering if they can handle the temperature drop?.when I get to that point..any help would be appreciated

"Spotted cory cats" is a bit generic. If they are C. paleatus, then they should handle the temperatures like your gymnos. If they are a more tropical species, then they may be less able to do so.

I had c. paleatus in with my gymno group for two years and they did just fine.

most cory cats need cold temps to spawn. they can handle the same temps.

I have a group of 6 C. Serbai and too am wanting to add them to my Gymno tank. The tank is around 75 right now and it too will have a cool down period but not till the fall. I am kind of scared to add the Corys though but all my research is telling me they should be ok with a dip to the 60's.

As long as it's a gradual cool-down, over several days or even weeks, it probably isn't going to hurt the cories...

Mike, I haven't tried Sterbais, but I kinda thought they were the warmer temp variety of cory. I certainly could be wrong.

All of the info I'm getting states a temp of 75 to 79 so i don't know if they could go lower than that to trigger a spawn. Lowering the temp would certainly trigger something but I suspect it would be ick.
