I have been keeping two

groups of tropheus for about 5 months now.I must say they are the most interesting fish in my

fishroom.I have duboise(maswa) and luputa cut throat.I really like the neverending activity and

social interaction these fish display.I feed my fish OSI spirolina flake and twice a week I give

them some NLS mini cichlid pellets.I have not had any bloat problems as of yet,but I have the

metro. on hand just in case.I read somewhere that bloat isn't always dietary,it was suggested

that stress is a leading factor in most cases.I was wondering if anyone else could confirm this.I

am addicted to these fish and plan on accuiring more in the future. M1 http://cichlid.ipbhost.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

Hi malawione,

Just came across your post and was shocked that nobody had answered your question. So I figured

better late then never.

Bloat is a stress related illness. Anything that could cause

stress might be the trigger. The best way is to find a routine and stick with it like:
-

weekly water changes always on the same day if possible
- make sure that the water temperature

is within +/- 2 degrees celsius
- try to feed always at the same time
- feed only small

amounts but more often
- when changing food, do it very slowly by mixing the with the old
- changing the group structure by intruducing new or remove old fish

Tropheus

don't like change of any kind.

Good luck,

homework before venturing to these fish and it has been well worth the effort.I will continue to be

as consistant as I can with them. http://cichlid.ipbhost.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

Well its been a while

now,the Luputas have spawned 4 times now and I have 13 fry and juvies growing out.The duboise

spawned for the first time last night.I am going to move these fish to a larger tank very soon,I

have been lucky to get away with keeping them in a 40 breeder, they are getting crowded now as they

are nearing 3 inches.I also am getting two new types for my fishroom, murago and kiazers.I will pick

them up on monday the 28th of Nov.I can't wait these fish are great!! M1 http://cichlid.ipbhost.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/biggrin.gif

Hey Malawione,
Nice

pictures, especially the Kiriza (Kaiser ll) look great.

I never heared of "Murango

Zongwe Yellow". It looks like the person you bought these from has a nag for names. Here are

some pictures of the Tropheus sp. "Murago". Their new name is now Tropheus sp.

"Moba ll".

Aqualog has a book that deals exclusively with Tropheus.

Keep it up, Tropheus are the

best.

Hi Klaus,you know I was

suspicious of the spelling from the place I got them,I think they look more like the Tropheus sp.

"Moba II".I wonder why they called them Murango zongwe yellow,Oh well I like them

anyway!!I think your pictures have to be the best I have seen of Tropheus!!!

Do the zongwe have the spots on there face and head when they are small and loose some

as they get bigger?

I have a friend who just got that book,I am planning on getting

it soon, thanks for reminding me. M1

M1 when you get some fry out of

the Kaiser IIs let me know. I might have to make some room. Don't have it right now. But, I

might have to make some. They are definitely nice looking fish.

Murango zongwe yellow

I will do some digging but there is some literature or web site that describes this species. The

yellows only have a yellow look to them when the are juveniles and then become almost identical to

the marangos. If I remember right they thought is was only a variant.

I'll get back

to you.
