Removing my pair of islantums, 1 festae and Tomocichla sieboldi. I"m going to add driftwood and plants. I have 2 dicrozoster, 2 daemons, 2 heckeli, 2 el nortes, 2 hypselacra coryphanoides, 5 small exodons and I will pick up possibly 2 small suranamsis and 3 silver dollars in a little bit. I might remove my 3 beacon pleco and add my Galaxy, Queen Arabesque and 2 Para/Tiger plecos along w/ 4 Hassar Richter catfish. All cichlids are in 2 inch range. This will be my first "BIG" Geo tank. I will post pics and/or video when it's done tonight.

Are the el norte a gymnogeo? If so they need a cool down period and will wither away if they don't get it. Might take some time, but it will happen.

+1 on moving the gymno to its own tank. I've never kept them but all the info that I have read and folks I have talked to say the cool down period is essential.

Also, I think that you will find the tank a bit cramped in 6 months when your fish get some size on them. The hyplescara will put on some size quickly if they are anything like their temporalis cousins. Good luck with the tank. You've picked some really nice fish.

Good to know on the Gynos, I'm new to them and I might reconsider and raise them w/ my red ceibals instead.

Good call on moving them with the ceibals. I'm pretty sure that is a better fit, but those who have kept fish from Uruguay can confirm.

I had gymno. labiatus in with red ceibals and they worked out great.

That's what I want to add to that tank, they are from Uruguay as well.
