Well, I love DIY, and this

goes double for anything ridiculously overpriced such as tank dividers...

I usually use

egg crate (light fixture diffusers) to make nice barriers as the holes are small but large enough

to allow alot of flow between the sections... I simply use a pair of pliers to crush the part I

need to "cut" the egg crate to size... works like a charm... http://cichlid.ipbhost.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif

one word of caution... cichlids

are smart... I had one small Tilapia who was far too large for the square holes... till he would

twist at a 45 degree angle and squeeze through the bars... LOL I could never understand how it kept

getting to the other side... I used a lid, redid a seperator teice as snug... etc.

so... when building anything for your fish room... think 3D at all times!

I had afra's that did

the same thing. Looked like they couldn't fit but...
It worked OK for me anyway, the

females slipped through to get away from the larger males. They bred when they wanted to.
Mine

didn't wait, they started slipping through as I was installing it, I thought I heard laughter

from the tank!! http://cichlid.ipbhost.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/ohmy.gif
