View Full Version : Anyone Keeping Pundamilia nyererei?
Hi all,
I'm
considering acquiring a small group of Pundamilia nyererei, either Ruti or Makobe Island, in the
coming weeks. Does anyone keep nyererei from those locations? I'd like to get some feedback
on their aggression, breeding, etc.
Thanks,
J
I thought I might have seen
some on this new Vic forum that I joined. Although I looked at a TON of pics. Could have been in
a pic that I saw them too. Join the group and take a look around. There is a guy from MI that
raises a lot of Vics. Has some awesome looking Tomatoes that I am interested in. You need to sign
up for the group then it takes a day for them to approve you entry. Hope this helps.

most of the pundamillia are best
kept in groups of 4-6. They are not that aggressive.

I'm in Halifax, Nova Scotia and attend the
East Coast Aquarium Society meetings. Not sure if that helps you, but there it is.

It helps. Wanted to
trade some vics with you if your where anywhere close, that does not appear to be the case as my
home is in Minnesota.
Try David Banks at dbanks@together.net. He has Ruti Island P.
nyererei and he lives in Vermont close to Canadian border.
My P. nyererei, Makobe were
very aggessive. Female killed other female. Male killed the other male. Then they bred and lived
happily ever after, not. The male would become dominant fish in most tanks he was placed in.
Finally had to put him in a 125 with some large predatory haps. He calmed down in there. Towards
the end of their time here, the female would not allow male to fertilize eggs she would have
mouthful after mouthful of unfertilizied eggs. The spawnings were not witnessed so maybe the male
went sterile after two years ???
I have some
beautiful
fish!
mine are fairly agressive almost as tough as Mbuna

IMO, Pundamilia have a larger
feeding territory than mbuna. Adding rocks and increasing density does not seem to help with
aggression.
