Aggression question: I am needing to move some fish around to get ready for ACA (hopefully bringing some new guys home!) and am considering putting my Crenicichla noto (dwarf pike of course) in with an Aequidens pulcher. The acara is in a 60g by himself and I would be adding the dwarf pike temporarily. Anyone foresee a problem? I hesitate, thinking the Acara will defend his 'territory', that being the whole tank; but have cut sight lines and provided plenty of hiding places. The acara is 4" and thick-bodied, the pike is full grown at probably 4 1/2 inches. Though their both SA, I wonder. Is this a stupid thing to do?
Thanks

Actually, now that i really look, the pike is probably more like 6". Wow he's grown.

Make sure the pike has a cave to retreat to.

You might want to add another target, 3 or 4 giant danios. Also use a cave that the pike can get into but the acara can not, small PVC might work, not just 1 but several in different places. Make the changes now so the behavior can be observed over the first few hours and the following couple of days. If the acara has only a single intruder he may be relentless in his pursuit.
