Hi,
I am a new member from the UK and have registered with the forum and joined as an overseas member.
I have been keeping fish for over 15 years and for the last 8 years have kept geophagines, not easy in an area where the local tap water is like liquid concrete.
I am about to take delivery of a group of Retroculus lapidifer which are extremely rare in the UK. I would like to speak to anybody who has experience of keeping this species and is willing to share their knowledge with me.
Many thanks
Keith

Welcome to the forum. I'm afraid you won't find a ton of recent experience with Retroculus lapidifer in the US as they have not been available for a long time. There were a few around several years ago though. I have never kept this species but the main thing I remember in reading about them is they are from pretty fast moving water. So you will need oxygen rich water with some good current. Soft water is supposed to be important but I always found that a lot of the amazon fish do well in most water as long as it is not extremely hard if you keep it really clean. So a good powerhead and clean water is were I would start with a sand bottom in a river style setup.

Good luck and post pictures when you get them.

Welcome to the forum and congrats on your great taste in fish! I wish I could help you out with personal experiences but I haven't had the pleasure of owning any.
