Show Judging and Show Classes
The following was propped (2010-17) and passed by a vote of 8 yes and 1 no.
"The BOT of the ACA authorizes the formation of a temporary Show Standards Committee, which shall exist until the BOT votes to dissolve the committee. The committee will be a consensus committee, not a majority rule committee, and the recommendation from the committee is to be agreed upon by all committee members.
The committee will be chaired by a volunteer who, upon approval from the BOT to be the chair, will invite other members to join the committee.
Committee members will include:
- Two 2011 BOT members
- A Convention Liaison
- 4 to 6 ACA members who show, or have regularly shown, fish at the convention
- 2 to 3 host club show chairs; past, present, or future
- 2 to 3 judges
The chair will present his/her committee to the BOT for approval.
The committee is charged to recommend to the BOT, no later than June 30, 2011, a plan for the ACA to take control of class designations, award definitions, rules and judging standards for the annual show, starting with the 2013 annual convention show. Specific tasks of the committee are to:
A) recommend a set of official ACA show rules.
B ) define judging standards to be used to judge any fish entered in the show
C) define what types and varieties of fish are eligible to be shown in the show
D) write the SOP for a committee chair-level position of ACA Show Standards Chair to begin with the acceptance of the committee recommendations
The committee's recommendations will be reviewed and discussed by the BOT, and a proposition to accept the recommendations will be voted on. If the recommendations are not accepted, the plan will be returned to the committee for changes.
Upon acceptance of the committee recommendations the Show Standards Committee is dissolved."
So, that said, we need to start filling the open positions for this committee. Specifically, we need the following:
- Two 2011 BOT members
- A Convention Liaison – P Benes to fill
- 4 to 6 ACA members who show, or have regularly shown, fish at the convention
- 2 to 3 host club show chairs; past, present or future
- 2 to 3 judges
Once the committee is filled, a chairman can be appointed. I you would like to sit on this committee, please post your interest in the forum. I will start a new topic heading where everyone can post.
If you would like to sit on this committee please either post here or send me a pm. If you are not an ACA member and would like to sit on this committee, please let me know why you are interested.
Thanks in advance,
Phil
