What level of nitrates is cause

for concern? I have mbuna and peacocks. I have tested somewhere between 20 and 40 ppm (the Aq.

Pharm. test is hard to read).

Lower that concern level by performing water changes.

to get the reading to five or less. Twenty is a problem. They cannot tolerate forty.

I agree. Anything over 20 should

cause alarm. Water changes help keep it down. Another solution is to add some plants to the tank.

They will use up the nitrates in a natural way... saving you from such frequent water changes...
