Just curious if anyone

has witnessed or heard of Altolamps picking up their fry, like a mouthbrooder? It looked my female

fasciatus' mouth was extended, like she was holding. I first noticed it a few days after her

batch of eggs hatched out. No, she wasn't eating the fry, and I had already moved the multies

out of the tank....... I've never heard of it before, and the behavior only lasted 4 days or

so, and hasn't been repeated. Unfortunately I didn't get any pics. Maybe she was just

chewing on a few rocks.........

Do you feed pellets? Any chance

that's what she was holding?

No at that time, and I did not

observe her eating at all. She acted just like a mouthbrooder with fry. Just something that made me

say hmmmmm.

It wouldn't surprise me.

I've seen Jewels pick up fry to move them and spit them back out. Although, my experiences with

Altolamprologus calvus and compressiceps, they usually were into protecting the shell and

that's it. It'd be interesting if the fasciatus too better care of their fry.
