I am setting up a 50 gal

aquarium and would like to get some dwarf cichlids. I live in southern California and would like

the name of someone experienced with dwarfs. Also I need the names of dependable breeders to

purchase from. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks

In general, if the person is

a member of ACA, they are dependable. Post a want ad on this forum.

Fire away with

specific questions.

are you looking for African

dwarf cichlids?
I'm asking only as this is the African Forum.

Are you looking

for anything in particular?

The obvious beginner dwarf african are Kribensis, but

there's alot to choose from.

If you're an ACA

member you'll find other areas to view if you notify the membership chair. There's a post

discussing ACA member registration in the first section of the Forum. Obvious choices for contact

to me would be either Chuck Rambo or Pam Chin. Pam's a member here. I think Chuck limits his

computer use to eBay but he does have an e-mail address in the BB. Both live in Ca and have

extensive experience with dwarf cichlids. They'd both know of so Ca breeders. Dan

I have five Kribensis and they

look like they are ready to breed, should they be moved into another tank to spare the other fish?

how should the other tank be setup?

You didn't provide enough info

to give a good reply. What other tank mates are we talking about? What size tank? I'll try.

Most would let nature take it's course the first time your kribs breed. If you've

got a definite pair including a ripe female you might move the pair and a target fish to prevent

either of the pair from whooping the other. If you move them into a smaller tank you could fill the

smaller one from the host tank. Take a second heater, set it to the setting of the first tank, then

move it to the new tank when ready.

Welcome to the forum. Hopefully our regulars will

find your post. I wanted to move it to the breeding section but my moderator controls doesn't

include moving a single post within a thread. You could place an additional post in the breeding

section to pick up some other comments. Dan

Bob,

if you are

looking for hobbyists in Southern California, the most active club is C.O.A.S.T. Check them out,

there are lots of cichlid people in this group.
