When they are refering to a
Frontosa as a 6 or 7 stripe are they counting the stripe that runs thru the eye? As i have what was
being sold as a 6 stripe Burundi but if counting the stipe running thru the eye it actually has 7.
I've never kept Frontosa's before and i'm just a bit curious.
Thanks,
Tony

Cyphotilapia are counted both
ways, with eye band or without it. The most common by far is to count the eye band. Thus, Burundi
C. frontosa are six stripes. Kigoma C. frontosa are seven stripe.
Occasionally a six
striper will have six stripes on one side and seven stripes on other side. Breeders do not like
this as it suggests crossing location morphs. It is probably a natural morph rather than a
crossbred.

Hi Burundi,
Looks to me that you got yourself a little "Kigoma" http://cichlid.ipbhost.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/tongue.gif. Check out my website for some pictures to
compare.
