I pulled a trio from the fishroom and after about a week both the females are tube dropped and ready to go. This battle for the male results in no real damage and all three have lost color and took up their breeding patterns. All the excitement really turned on the the female Nanoluteus who insisted on staying in the middle of it.

Very nice interaction between the four. Both Cryptoheros species are among my favorite cichlids.

Interesting that the pair chose to spawn on the outside of the flower pot. Did they have a cave as an alternative?

There are halved flowerpots in there but they chose the side of a rock probably because it was in the corner of the tank and easier to defend.

Yes, that is interesting. I've had acaras that alternately spawned inside and on top of PVC piping.
