Are There Any Chapters in Southern CA?

Hello--

I would like to join an association where I can attend the meetings. I did a search online and I can't seem to find any near me. Does anyone know of a cichlid association or club in or near Orange County, California?

Hi Stephen,

There is not a regional Cichlid club that I know of in Southern California. Most of the cichlid people I know down there go to the COAST Club. It is a general aquarium society but there are a lot of cichlid people who belong. Here is their website:

Also there is a strong general aquarium society in San Diego

And of course there is the Pacific Coast Cichlid Association based out of San Jose, but their publication is good and you never know when you might be in the area.

Hi Stephen,
one of the first cichlid clubs, the southern california cichlid association. I am a former president of the club and it is a very good club. I moved away ten years ago so I don't know their current status but they were in Chino hills, not too far away. Many nice people and great auctions.

Ten years before that, they used to meet at a pizza place in Orange County...

Unless that was a differrent club but I'm pretty sure that was the same one.

Sadly the Cichlid Club in Southern California is no longer, and they have merged in with the COAST club. This happened about 8 - 10 years ago.

That is too bad. San Jose is way too far. :confused: I will have to check out the South Coast Club.
