View Full Version : Posting photos online

I've never posted shots
of my fish online. Do I need special software? Can I do it directly from my harddrive? How big
should the file be? When I've tried before I'm asked for pixals ? Huh? Then the file size.
What's the correlation between pixals and file size? Dan

I will give you
a few steps that I take. Later I will sit down and write it up properly and pin it at the top.
1) The pictures that I take are very large files. I have adobe Photoshop but all you have
to have is the ability to resize you file.
The pictures I post are 640 X 426 pixels. This size
seems to work well with most programs. Theres nothing worse that having a picture that you can not
see all of because its too big. There is a direct corolation between size and pixels. If you
change the pixels the size will change with it.
2) Once you size the picture you will
need to save to your hard drive. Make sure you lable it so that you can find it later.
3) The next thing you need is an online photo storage site. There are several out there but I
use Photobucket .com. It is a free site and you can store a lot of pics there. You will load the
picture to the storage site from you hard drive. It's easy enough to do.
4) The
next step is to look at that picture and you will find three line of information under it on the
site.
The first one is the URL. Left click on it to high light the URL. Then right click and
copy the information.
5) The next step is start your post on the ACA site. Once you
are ready to add the photo find at the top of the box a small box that looks like a tree. If you
click on it you will get a box at the top that says
"Explorer user promps" This is
where you paste the URL. Then click on okay and the information will be put into your post.
6) Post like you normally do and the picture should be there.
I hope this
answers the question for you.

Maybe I should
wait for the movie...
So, a standard jpeg isn't enough?
pixals/file
size: I figured there's a correlation. I was hoping you'd say this gives you that.
Our avatars are limited in size... how do you do that?
Got it. Use a label I can
remember.
If I can load to photobucket.com why can't I load it here? Even Yahoo
let's you send photos.
I'm a Mac guy. I don't use Explorer and the left
click right click thing doesn't work for me either. I use Firefox and could use Photoshop,
iPhoto, or Image Ready.
Where do you put your copyright in? Dan

Dan,
The picture
that you want to upload has to be on the internet and then you can post the link and it will find
its way on to the message some how.
But here is my problem. I have all my pics in
these albums on .mac, and when I open a pic it doesn't give me the URL, so I can't post it.
But I can give the link to my album.
okay wait minute I am going to see if I can upload
a pic I have on another server....

Okay here is a picture that I had on my
Earthlink site. I just opened the picture, got the URL. Then I came back to this message, clicked
on the tree, and pasted in the URL.
Got it??
