I just read a great book about all the extinct fish that where in California in the early 20th century and on that was biger then a stealhead that used to be in the Grand Canyon. It's really sad to see all those fine fish extinct in the last hundred years. Just think how many more will be extinct in the next hundred. I have an idea and i was wondering if there are any fish with the numbers below 500 in the wild which I could breed and make some use out this hobby and devote my time to research instead? Does anyone know if this is possible.

There are fish in the hobby that are extinct in the wild. Check out the C.A.R.E.S. program for info on what you can do to help.
