You should be able to

download this document and then can return to me by email, PM or post here. I will then be sure to

get your status updated in the ACA CARES effort. Thank you for your interest.

Just a

few notes.

I am trying to modify the form so that it is easier to use. I will post it

here if it is agreed by the team that I should change it.

For now though, the SOURCE

column is VERY importent. We need to where WHERE or from WHOM you acquired the fish. We need it

to be specific as well. Some of the program awards are based on people in the program supplying

others with the fish. i.e. if you did get them from me, put Ronald Nielson as the source. If you

got them from a club exchange, auction, petstore then just be as specific as you can.

can you save this in a .wps

format?
i do not have word, and even when i open it in another program it is ........messed up

basically.

I am working with various

formats now. Please give me some time and we will get this to work for our members. Sorry about

the delay, but I am a bit taxed at this time.

Maybe someone else can help me get various

formats. Then I can post files that will work for all.

Duane, thanks for the

submittion.

In the SOURCE column we need to know WHERE you got the fish from. Local

petstore, online, breeder, individual etc. We are trying to be sure the fish are the right species

and the source information allows us to get a start on it.

Ron,

Had to

rename the file after I downloaded it. The periods (.) in C.A.R.E.S. confussed my computer and it

would not recognize the file.

I'll see if I can change

that after we update the form within our committee. Glad you pointed that out though.

I'm curious about how this

thing really works. I signed up at last years ACA convention in Chicago. Is this just a paperwork

trail of endangered species? Or is it a group of hobbiests that should be trying to network with

eachother to distribute endangerded species? I'm not sure I understand.

No one seems to have answered this yet. I would like to know the same question.

Actually someone from Cichlid-forum suggested for me to enlist myself here because of my high

interest in Malagasy cichlids. I would like to help out and perhaps if possible even raise and

breed some Paretroplus species. Do I have to be a member of ACA in order to join? I would also like

to join ACA, but i'm not sure i know of any other ACA members and i'd like to know if there

are any in my area (Southern California)...

<!--

coloro:#008000--><span style="color:#008000">A warm welcome to the ACA, and to ACA

CARES!

The ACA CARES database has now been created, with huge thanks to Marty

Ruthkosky. I have been working on the initial filling in of all of the submitted information, and

we have been smoothing out the minor kinks that occur in any new system as they come up.

As the information is entered, each individual is contacted to update that data. Next, the extra

awards already achieved will be added.

As soon as this is complete, all of the ACA CARES

registrants will be posted on the website.

A dream for the future is for each person to

be able to post maintenance and breeding observations and notes regarding the species-at-risk that

they are keeping on their own individual web page.
In the meantime, you will be able to see

who is keeping what, and share information on those species here on this ACA Forum.

You

do need to be a member of the ACA to register your cichlids-at-risk with ACA CARES.

Joining the ACA is a wonderful means to meet other hobbyists with a like interest in cichlids,

KnC! We would love to have you join us in Atlanta in July ~ you will come away having had the

time of a lifetime, cichlids that you would not have found elsewhere, and most importantly, many

new, lasting friendships.

We so look forward to having you as a valued member of the

ACA, and including your conservation endeavors in the ACA CARES Program!

With Warm

Wishes,
Claudia

Thanks for the quick

reply! I wasn't expecting that. Now i'm even more determined to become a member. Of

course, I'll have to do my research first. I am a bit excited and maybe my fish won't be so

alone out here. I am currently keeping Paretroplus Dambabe and one Paretroplus Maculatus, but

I'd really like to know other keepers of these species in order to make the best out of those

that I have now. I may not be able to attend in July, but hopefully I can keep contact through here

or some other way. Thanks again Claudia!

how to fix my profile/name here sorry about that)

style="color:#008000">Hello, Owen!

We would love to have you as a

member of the ACA! I do so hope you might find a way to join us in July. There are no words to

describe what a time you will have!

*Wonderful* on your Malagasy cichlids! That

is fantastic news! There are several who frequent this site who are keeping various Madagascar

species, and we have quite a few registered in ACA CARES. I will be glad to put you in touch with

them.

Do you have the book, "The Endangered Cichlids of Madagascar," by Jean

-Claude Nourissat and Patrick DeRham? It is superb, and one that is well worth your adding to your

library, if you have yet to do so.

All the Best!

back from me right away, please know that I will get back to you as soon as I return and regroup on

I am currently a owner

and breeder of one of the Astatotilapia latifasciata zebra obliquidens which are on the ACA

C.A.R.E.S. CONSERVATION PRIORITY SPECIES AT RISK LIST.
Until JustRon posted a new list of them

i never really new what ones were actually on the list.

I love my Zebra obliquidens,

they have such a brilliant red belly, for the most part are not an aggressive fish in a community

tank. Now i will have to add an amendment to that, when they are young between 3/4 - 1.5 "

they are rather Rambunctious, and they must believe they are Supermen Ciclids. For they were in a

tank with a large Pleco that was approx 6". At first i was a bit scared he would try to eat

them, I could not have been farther off. They (their was about 15) ganged up on this poor pleco and

just bit him to shreds almost.
Within one night they had taken the tail of my pleco almost

half off from strikes. They truly are a very hardy cichlid in that manner

With luck and

a bit more digging for knowledge and pictures I may have another species on this list as well

I will attach my ACA CARES Sign up sheet with this post.
