Yah, every time I turn the lights on I am treated to courtship... Here are some photos I just took. They have great color. (Female gets a little beaten up but as you can see from her fins she is doing fairly well.) I mean I will even see them both start to drop tubes but nothing has come of it so far. I grew these guys out from a bag of six I got from Ken Davis at an auction I think they are about 3 years old now. They are in a 400.

And now some pictures. (Just snapped them off didn't go out my way to make them look good.)

man i love the Tri-Mack great fish!!! Although I always seem to gravitate back to them I've had quite a few over the years. I've been waiting for my LPS in my area to get some in for a few years now, don't know why but it seems that they haven't been able to get them. For 10yrs it seems they were never without a few but now that i want to get some they can't get them....
Great pictures got to like the red eyes and chest ......and sorry but I HATE THE FLOWERHORN CRAZE.....

Trimacs are available - your LFS just needs to order some from a quality source (e.g. Ken Davis, Jeff Rapps)... point them in the right direction.

But please don't blame them not ordering these fish on flowerhorns...

I don't blame them
They won't carry Flowerhorns.... I have pointed them to Jeff Rapps but i could order them from Rapps myself. I don't have the money to order $50.00 worth of stock and then pay the 80.00 NDA fee. My LPS did check with Rapps and there was some sort of limitations set forth. Before you jump me for what ever reason I trust these owners I've sold them fish from my pairs for years and they are very trust worthy. Most of their stock comes from the wholesalers and if they aren't on the listing they can't order. Once a year one of them will put a big order Don Conkel and even then they are very hit or miss. Don sold him 20 trimac's on the order form but in reality what they got was Dovii. When ordering from Jeff Rapps It's the same price to the LFS as it is to the aquarist like myself so really no incentive for the LFS owner. It's hard to cover cost of the fish & shipping and any loss, so it is very hard to justify a 25-40 dollars ea. for the cichlids when you have your petco's and wal-marts selling them for 5-6 bucks or less. Yes I know they are not the same quaility but people like us keep fish for a long time and your johnny come lately's won't shell out 20 bucks a fish let alone any more than that, that in reality will probably die within 3 months

I was just voicing my displeasure of Flowerhorns I don't fault anybody for keeping them. Like the Red Parrot the Flowerhorn is a hybrid and I'm more of a purist. If i was to keep Discus I would still search out the Browns and Tefe Greens. My honest opinion

Duh from a concrete vat in southeast Asia....

The Tri-Mack was one of my first "maneaters" still have a softspot in my heart for them. For the most part I'm too afraid to buy one from a fish store because some "Flowerhorn" breeders dump their culls to the wholesalers.

great pictures!!
