hehe

Ron.... I beat you to the punch by 1 minute.

Better yet can a mod setup a sub

forum entitled " Live from the ACA Convention" that way all members can start threads on

various goings on at the convention

We got here last night

after a 7 and half hour drive from Georgia, took me until 11 pm to get all the fish in the tanks,

ate at waffle house and finally got to bed about 1:45.Up early this morning as Wills snorning is

just too much. LOL, I'll get some sleep tonight, things start today and I'm ready! Only

distraction so far is the 350 cheerleaders who are also staying in the hotel. Ken

Sorry Chris,

Mods

don't have that function, Admins only. The best I can do is to make the thread a

"sticky' and try to make it as visible as possible. You could always amuse yourselves by

counting cheerleaders.

Rather than adding yet another project to his plate,(He's trying to make the

new site look more presentable,

among other things) why not click to another area. Then

click the ACA convention section to see what the title looks like now.

I'll

check back in a bit.

Hi folks,

The ACA

Board of Trustees meeting has just ended. It was only 6 and 1/2 hours this year. Tons of great

stuff was done which you will be hearing about soon.

Hi folks,

Cincinnati put together an awesome

Thanks very

much to the many sponsors that help out the ACA!

Hi folks,

We just

finished a great day of talks, starting with "Discus Hans" speaking on Discus, then Michi

Tobler on Central American cichlids,

Wayne Leibel on species concepts and hybrids, Ingo

Seidel on catfish, Paul Loiselle on West African cichlids and finishing with Ad Konings

on

Aulonocara from Lake Malawi. All in all, a fantastic day of talks. There are also tons of

vendors, and many other things going

on (I just scored a copy of the 1998 GERMAN version of

Cichlid News at the Babes Silent auction!) and picked up one of the few issues of

the

Buntbarsche Bulletin that I was missing (just a few more to go 'til I have them all). I got

that from Mike Schadle's Fish Factory.

Of course it's wonderful to see so many

friends (old and new) here.

By any chance are these talks taped for

people to watch later?

Regarding recorded talks.

There are too many legal issues with publishing talks. Often speakers will pull material from

various sources to put together for a "one" time talk. Some of those sources are

copyrighted and the speaker may or may not have a copyright release. Whether the speaker has a

copyright release is not the main hurdle though, American Cichlid Association would also need to

obtain copyright release. Consider the original holder of copyright being approached by ACA

representative and asking if ACA would recieve copyright release.

Bottom line is not likely

to happen.

On rare occasions(continue to watch this forum for an exception to the rule),

some copyrighted material maybe granted to ACA.

Regarding speakers, a very

interesting symposia was complete with Eric's Guatamala presentation, Michi's speciation

presentationand Wayne's genetics 101 presentation. I enjoyed all three.

For me

each of the presentations were the highlights of this convention. Many thanks for GCAS in

selecting speakers.

Bob,

I saw

the camera rolling on a few of those talks. I think the host club did record some of the talks.
