What a nightmare! I waited
in a plane, then waited, then waited, then finally took off for O'hare. After all of the
waiting for the weather to clear in Chicago, 9 hours, I was finally on the way here. I did make it
to the hotel almost 12 hours after I left home.
I will try to get some pictures to post
on this site in the coming days.
Today is the trip to the Shed Aquarium, I hope that
will make the trip here a distant memory.
I wish you all could be here, especially if
you tried and are still waiting for a flight.

The mickey-fickeys cancelled my flight! http://cichlid.ipbhost.com/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/mad.gif

Well, I just got back and will
try to get some pictures editted and posted here very soon.
The flight there was
terrible because of the weather, but I did finally make it. I had another issue with the airlines
coming home today, but I also did bring back some fish that I had been looking for. I just brought
them back as carry-on.
Fish are in the tank now and I am just going to relax this
evening.

Your early return home would indicate you didn't stay for the
auction. I'd presume they were holding it in a tent outside again. Did you see any of it? BTW,
how many attended the convention? Dan

I left ballroom
that they held the auction in at 9:30 pm, after getting there at 9:00 am. I'll bet there were
still over 100 bags left at 9:30 pm, I was sorry I had to leave. Great convention(my 1st), great
fish and great deals. The ***** auction was great too and really entertaining beyond all the other
good stuff.

I missed this one. I wouldn't have thought anyone had a functional
room big enough for an ACA auction in Chicago. Re ***** auction: Carolyn and the Pams were probably
planning the 2007 event before the 2006 auction was held. They've definitely got their act
together. They also seem to muster up stuff that commands a high price and doesn't normally
appear at an auction. Dan

I left the auction at
about 11pm. There was still about 75 bags on the display table and over a 100 bags up front. Also
there were still at least 40 or more people bidding at that time.
Before Kingfish left he
mentioned 2000 bags. I don't know what the final count was but they were moving at least 100
per hours. When Mike and Robin were up there it was more like 150 per hour. I made a rough count
of bags at about 830 or 9 oclock and counted around 550 still in the back. There were a ton of
fish.
I only bought 4 bags because I was flying.

I stayed to the
end, 2:25AM, prices were still reasonable and there were about 50 die hards still in attendence. I
bought too many bags to fly home with but picked up another styro at the auction. Delta mangled
both boxes but the coolers were fine. We only lost a couple of bags of fish.

Had a great time at the
ACA convention and auction. Fishroom is fully restocked and a real joy to spend time in. Pat that
male Ruby Red is doing his job I already have a female holding! Watson and I stayed until
11:30 at the auction and there were still a bunch of people and bags left. All in all I spent
about $800 on fish over the weekend and ended up with about 35 new species/varieties. Now I
just got to save some money to be able to pick up some female B. tricoti to go with those two nice
males.
I took a bunch of pics but can't for the life of me figure out how to get
them to show up here.

Those shots of tequilla with a
$25 purchase were a nice touch, I was working toward the lap dance price but never quite made
it. Maybe next year, you gals sure know how to get an auction going. Just a little teaser for those
that missed out. And thems that doubt..........

I put all my convention
pictures here:
mystery.thekrib.com (http://mystery.thekrib.com)
Apologies that I have no attributes on the fish
pictures or half the people pictures. Unless it's a Julidochromis, Pelvicachromis or
Apistogramma, I'm clueless on species.

A beautiful city. Even in the middle of a storm.

The toga party was adult only, but the auction must have been
for families?
