View Full Version : No mention of the ACA Forum in the latest TP

I was a little surprised
to see Jim Ellenberger suggest checking out the GCCA's website and their subsequent online TP
rather than mentioning our ACA Forum. Is it possible that our board members are not even aware of
the ACA Forum? If the GCCA site was used as an example of what we eventually want in our forum the
discussion should have at least mentioned our forum. I'm not going to be in Chicago. I do
remember the shock and the dread that I saw on some of the faces of the BOT when I showed up at the
ICC 1 Board meeting in Orlando. (The meeting was open for members too.) I know they were afraid I
was going to bring up something they didn't want discussed. I do have a tendency to ask
questions that make some uncomfortable. I don't mind when people speak out but I don't want
them to say they represent me unless they REALLY do.
Another question, related, I think.
How many of our ACA board members have a web presence. I don't recall seeing any posts from
board members. Do we have a way to mark Forum members as board members? I'd think the ACA
Board should have a private area, similar to the moderator area just for them to communicate with
each other. It'd be nice if we had a mailbox for board members, where we could leave general
messages for all board members. Messages left to a particular board member should go through the
normal channels, either left here from one Forum member to another or regular e-mail if one has
been posted. Dan

I was a bit surprised
about that myself!

The announcement will take
place at the convention and then in subsequent publications.
I am on the board and a few
others are here from time to time. Not as much as I would like.

I do
remember reading that in your signature. I had forgotten.
I would imagine that most ACA
members, myself included, have trouble remembering who is on the board at any given time. This
isn't meant to criticize any board members, only to relate observations. Maybe board members
need to be more distinctly recognized by an icon or something next to their screen name during the
period they are active on the board here on the forum. This could be placed in the member list and
added whenever they make a post. I know, this would draw extra attention to whatever they post.
It's both unintended and unavoidable. I'd like the icon just to indicate they are ACA Board
Members.
I've started keeping the current TP and BB on my desk before filing to keep
the most current contact info available. Dan

I can color code user groups
and show who is a BOT member that way, I can also do that for the cadre, etc...
This
would only show the color when they are on the forum, but I have already created user groups for
the BOT and the CADRE. These titles will be near their member name.
Maybe I could make
some small graphics that would also appear next to their posts. Should be easy to do.

It doesn't really matter what the method would be. I just think there should be a
distinction of some kind. What do the boxes below our screen names mean??

The boxes below our Avatars
are just the category grouping based on the number of posts you have made on the forum.

It was talked about a bit
during some of the presentations and I did my best to talk to people directly about it.
I hope we see a tick up in the numbers here.
