I hope to be receiving some of
these soon (thanks Ken/fishfarmusa!) and will be keeping them in a HEAVILY planted 55g. Any
experiences you all could relate and or advice you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
and may your day go swimmingly!

I've tried to breed them
but they just eventually all died. I had a ripe female who would always display to a nice male,
but he never showed any interest. Conspecific aggression is a big problem but a heavily planted
tank like yours should help. There is a thread on cichlid-forum where another poster gives some
information about his unsuccessful experiences with the same fish. There is also an old BB article
about compressiceps (sorry I don't remember the issue). Hope your luck is better than
mine!

I actually managed to get
them to spawn earlier this year but all the eggs were infertile. I have 5, originally 8 of them.
They fight lots and lots even in a 100 gallon 6' tank. The best thing for them seems to be to
provide them with several rock piles in the tank.
The female seems to be the one that
picks the sight with the males fighting over her. I think this is when I lost a few of these. The
female managed to lay around 80 eggs on a flower pot that was resting next to a pile of river rock.
Here is a bad photo of the eggs I ended up pulling and place in a tank of methylene
blue.
