A young male Paretroplus peti collected from Lac Kikony. Known to the Malagasy as Kotso, this species was formerly widely distributed in northwestern Madagascar and abundant enough to support an important traditional fishery. This damba now can be found only in a few lakes at the extreme northern and southern limits of its former range. Photo by Paul V. Loiselle.
