In 2008, five researchers received awards from the Jordan Endowment Fund for cichlid research. They were:
Sandra Binning of McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada for her studies on "Specialized morphology for a non-specialized diet -- The case of an African cichlid ” See BB#249 page 4.
Marcus Cohen of University of Colorado, Boulder, Colorado for his studies on "Host-parasite interactions -- Synodontis multipunctatus and its cichlid hosts” See BB#249 page 7.
Erika Crispo of McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, Canada for her studies on "Phenotypic Plasticity, Gene Flow, and Adaptive Evolutionary Diversification in African Cichlid Fish Adapted to Alternate Dissolved Oxygen Regimes in Uganda” See BB#249 page 10.
Samantha Hilber of University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida for her studies on "Do offspring associate with the parent that values them more in biparental fishes? See BB#249 page 11.
Kelly O'Quin of University of Florida, Gainesville, Florida for his studies on "The visual ecology of African cichlid fishes within Lakes Tanganyika and Malawi." See BB#249 page 12.

Bianka Bommarito of California State University, Sacramento for her studies on "Does Egg Size Influence Spawning Temperature Preference in Neotropical Cichlid Fishes” See BB#244 page 15.
Samantha Hilber of University of Florida, for her studies on “Patterns of Monogamy in a Biparental Cichlid Fish, Archcentrus nigrofasciatus” See BB#244 page 18.Michael Tobler of University of Oklahoma, for his studies on “The Evolutionary Ecology of Two Distinct Morphotypes of Archocentrus nigrofasciatus in Northeastern Honduras ”See BB#244 page 19.
Catherine Wagner of Cornell University, for her studies on “Patterns of Genetic and Morphological Diversification in Lake Tanganyika's Tropheine Cichlids” See BB#244 page 22.

Luciana Ramirez of California State University, Sacramento for her studies on "Southern South American Eartheaters: Effects of an External Factor on Delayed Mouthbrooding Behavior” See BB#236 page 32.
Anthony Mazeroll of Soka University, for his studies on “Paternity and Gene Flow in Symphysodon aequifasciata (Cichlidae) and Pterophyllum scalare (Cichlidae) in Rio Nanay, Peru” See BB#236 page 32.In 2005, two researchers received awards from the Jordan Endowment Fund for cichlid research. Lesley Hamamoto of California State University, Sacramento, for her studies on “Infection of Convict Cichlid Eggs by Oomycete Watermolds and its Implications for Parental Care Behavior” See BB#231 page 31.In 2004, three researchers received awards from the Jordan Endowment Fund for cichlid research. They were:
Terrence Lee ($1500) for his studies on "The function of female ornaments in the convict cichlid (Archocentrus nigrofasciatus)" See BB#231 page 22-28.
Ron Oldfield ($245) for his studies on "The behavioral influences on sex differentiation
in the midas cichlid". In addition, Eric Hanneman donated 675.00 for this project. See BB#229 page 14-23.Lynn Drennan ($900) for her work on "Female to female competition in the kribensis (Pelvicochromis pulcher)"
In 2003, three researchers received awards from the Jordan Endowment Fund for cichlid research. They were:
Dr. Susan C. Renn ($1315) for her studies on "Sex-role reversal and dominance genes in African Cichlid Fish" See BB#225 page 10-15 and 24-27.
Brook O. Swanson ($400) for studies of Herichthys minckleyi in Cuatro Cienegas. See BB#228 page 27-35.
C. Darrin Hulsey ($500) for his work on the population genetics of Herichthys cyanoguttatus.
